I am going to rent a car at IKA and self-drive to visit the most famous cities from Tehran to Shiraz with my husband.
Can I drive to the city centers to visit historical places or are they close to the traffic?
Do the hotels have parking or do we have to leave the car in the street or public garage?
Answer:
Tehran is really crowded so it is recommended to hire a taxi in Tehran in order to save your time while in other cities like Shiraz, Isfahan, and Yazd where the tourist sites are close to each other you can park the car at the hotel and walk in the old part of the city to visit the monuments.
Almost all hotels have parking lots however some hostels may not have parking thus you would better ask them before booking. There is public parking in all cities.
However, hiring a driver guide is the easiest and sometimes cheapest way to visit Iran.
