Overview
Bishapur is located south of modern Fahliyan near Kazerun. It was an ancient city in Iran on the ancient road between Persis and Elam which linked the Sassanid capitals Estakhr and Ctesiphon. The core of this city is the old castle, situated in a steep rock, which is an interesting geological feature of the southern Zagros Range.
The oldest monument is the relief I, in the Chogan gorge, which celebrates one of Shapour’s victories. Reliefs II and III commemorate the defeat of Valerian. The city, palace, Anahita Temple and the cave monument are some parts to visit.
