Yazd is a center of Zoroastrian culture and an architecturally unique city due to adaptations to its desert surroundings. Chak Chak, Meybod and Kharanagh are three important and must-see historical and Zoroastrian cities in Yazd province.
Pir-e Sabz, the most sacred of the mountain shrines of Zoroastrianism is located in Chak Chak and serves as a pilgrimage point for Zoroastrians. Each year from June 14–18 many thousands of Zoroastrians flock to the fire temple.
