I know that alcohol is illegal in Iran. But do the big Tehran city center hotels have bars? Or is there anywhere in the country that I can get beer from in Iran?

Iran is among the countries dominated by Islamic laws including banning alcohol. So, there is no bar in the hotels and you will have no chance to find any kind of alcohol in the city through legal ways. You can try non-alcoholic beer from different domestic brands.
