I am a Canadian passport holder and am planning to come to Iran for low-cost medical treatment. What is the easiest and fastest way to get an Iran visa without spending a lot of money on a guided tour? Can I apply for a visa through the e-visa website? I prefer to do it on my own.
According to the rules passed by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Canadian, British and American passport holders have to come to Iran (for any touristic or medical purposes) in a guided tour with a prearranged detailed itinerary from arrival to departure. It is not possible for them to visit Iran on their own.
You cannot apply for a visa on your own or through the e-visa website. You have to apply for your visa just through an official Iranian travel agency.
Moreover, as you want to do medical treatment in Iran, you must apply for a medical visa, thus you need to contact an Iranian travel agency and send them your medical record. Then an IPD code will be issued for you and the agency will use this code to get a medical visa for you.
The visa approval will take at least one month. Once approved you can refer to an Iranian embassy where you have submitted your visa application form for collecting your visa.
