I like to know if that is true that a 7-day visa will be issued upon arrival at Tehran International Airport. Is it applicable even to Americans? I live in Thailand and the Iranian Embassy here would not give me a visa.

Iran on arrival visa is issued for many nationalities. Read more about the list of eligible nationalities and other details for the on-arrival Iran visa.
Unfortunately, the USA is not listed as the eligible country for the on-arrival visa. The embassy cannot either apply for your visa. Your only option to get an Iran visa as a US citizen is through an Iran-based tour operator after you take part in a guided tour.
