I am Canadian planning to travel to Iran for low-cost dental treatment. I might want to do some sightseeing but I do not want to take a tour and want to travel on my own.
What is the best way to get a visa without spending a lot of money on a guided tour? Can I apply through the e-visa website?
Is it possible for Canadians to be approved without a escorted tour?
According to the rule passed by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Canadian, British, and American passport holders have to come to Iran (for any touristic or medical purposes) in a guided tour with a pre_arranged detailed itinerary from arrival to departure. It is not possible for them to visit Iran on their own. Therefore you cannot apply for a visa on your own or through the e_visa website.
Moreover, as you want to do treatment in Iran, you must apply for a medical visa.
Thus you have to apply for your visa just through an official Iranian travel agency and send them your medical records. Once approved a code called IPD code will be issued to you, and the agency will use this code to obtain a medical visa for you.
The visa approval will take at least one month. You can refer to an Iranian embassy that you have submitted in your visa application form for collecting your visa.
If you care about the cost you can choose a budget tour.
