I would like to take an exercise DVD with me to Iran to keep up with my fitness practices. I want to take some hair magazines with the unscarved models as a souvenir. Are those allowed or not?

You are OK as long as your DVDs & magazines are not pornography or offensive. Actually, there are no specific measurements for what is allowed or not allowed with regard to movies and magazines. The hidden law says that “anything that is indecent to the Islamic regulation or common sense is not permitted”. So normally it depends on the personal taste of the officer who checks your bags. It is better to carry them in your handbag.
