Actually, the railway’s network is not widely expanded in Iran, but anyhow most of the major cities are connected. Tehran, Tabriz, Shiraz, Esfahan, Mashhad, Yazd, Kerman, Ahwaz, and Bandar Abbas are some major cities that are covered by the railway network.
Trains are good and the services are satisfying as well as the rates that are quite reasonable!
The trains are usually sold out, so book your ticket in advance.
